เรื่องราวของซีรีส์จะต่อเนื่องจากตอนจบของ Avengers: Endgame ที่แซม วิลสันรับโล่กัปตันอเมริกาต่อจากสตีฟ โรเจอร์สวัยชรา หลังย้อนเวลากลับไปใช้ชีวิตร่วมกับเอเจนต์คาร์เตอร์คนรักมาจนถึงเส้นเวลาในปัจจุบัน ในทีแรกที่แฟนมาร์เวลทายกันว่า วินเทอร์โซลเยอร์จะรับช่วงต่อในการเป็นกัปตันอเมริกา (ตามเนื้อหาในคอมิกด้วย) แต่ในหนังก็เผยว่าเป็นแซมหรือฟัลคอนที่จะมารับตำแหน่งนั้นแทนกลาย ๆ และร่วมภารกิจกับวินเทอร์โซลเยอร์ต่อไป
